This site collects as little as it can. There is no account to create, no newsletter, no advertising network and no comment system.

What does this site collect automatically?
Standard web server records, kept for security and troubleshooting rather than analysis of you.
- Your IP address, browser type and operating system, the page you requested and the time of the request, written to the server log by the hosting provider.
- Records held by our content delivery network in order to serve pages and block abusive traffic.
These logs are not used to build a profile, are not sold, and are not combined with anything else. They rotate out on the hosting provider’s normal schedule.
Cookies
We set no tracking cookies and run no advertising or analytics scripts that follow you between sites.
WordPress itself may set a session cookie if someone signs in to administer the site. That applies to us, not to readers. Our content delivery network may set a technical cookie used to tell real traffic from automated traffic.
What happens to what you send us?
If you email us, we keep the email. That is the whole mechanism.
Messages sent to [email protected] are read by Maren Aho and kept in the mailbox so we can follow up and so corrections have a record. We do not add the address to any list. Ask us to delete a message and we will.
Images and embedded material
Photographs on this site are our own and are served from this domain. Fonts are hosted here as well, so loading a page makes no request to a font service or any other third party. If a page ever embeds outside material, that provider can see the request, and we will say so on the page itself.
What rights do you have?
Ask and we will act. There is not much held, which makes this simple.
To find out what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, email [email protected]. We will answer within thirty days. Readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR, and readers in California have comparable rights under the CCPA. We extend the same treatment to everyone regardless of where they are.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly hold information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions go to [email protected].
